GREENVILLE, SC (November, 2008) -- Grubb & Ellis|The Furman Co., one of the leading providers of integrated real estate services, announces a recent purchase of Building 2 at 68 Pointe Circle in Greenville.  The 11,800 square foot office building was sold to Creekside Building 2, LLC.   Anna T. Locke, partner of Creekside Building 2, LLC, will locate her company, AT Locke, PC, to the building as the majority tenant.  The buyer was represented by Alan Kirby who is a member of the Office Group with Grubb & Ellis|The Furman Co.

The Furman Co., Inc. Presented the Creative Thinkers Award
by Counselors of Real Estate

GREENVILLE, SC, (October, 2008) - -  The Furman Co., one of the leading providers of integrated real estate, development and insurance services, was recently awarded the Creative Thinkers Award by the Counselors of Real Estate –Carolinas Chapter.
 
The Furman Co. was one of four winners for the 2008 “Creative Thinkers Award” by the Carolinas Chapter of the Counselors of Real Estate held in Charlotte, NC. This distinguished award is aimed at recognizing leaders in the Carolinas in thought and execution of commercial real estate. The categories are broad-based, including public-private partnerships, adaptive reuse of buildings, LEEDS innovation in sustainability, and more.
 
The Furman Co. was recognized for innovation and flexibility in developing the 117,000-square foot Timken Building on the campus of the Clemson University International Center for Automotive Research (CU-ICAR).  The development sets a trend for university research park collaboration with the private sector.  Constructed over a short 13-month period, the Timken Building is expandable to 206,000 square feet.  It was awarded the USGB Gold LEED certification.
 
Other recipients included Spectrum Properties, Wachovia, and Land Design.  Spectrum Properties was recognized for the adaptive reuse of a class C office building into a class A residential condominium high rise at 230 South Tryon Street in Charlotte, NC.  Wachovia for its multi-use development under construction in uptown Charlotte which at +/- 1M sf will have an underground parking deck, office space, retail uses and will house the Wake Forest Graduate School.  Land Design and Conformity Corporation for an infill development, Southborough, with a Lowes Home Improvement store, for-sale townhouses and condominiums, restaurants, and office space two blocks from a light rail station on South Boulevard in Charlotte, NC.

Navarro, CRE, CCIM, FRICS to its Board of Trustees. The President of The Furman Co., Mr. Navarro started serving a three-year term on July 1, 2008.
 
Founded in 1936, the institute now has more than 40,000 members worldwide representing the entire spectrum of land use and real estate development disciplines, working in private enterprise and public service.  The mission of the Urban Land Institute is to provide leadership in the responsible use of land and in creating and sustaining thriving communities worldwide.

Mr. Navarro is also currently serving on the ULI Leadership teams both at the State and National levels.  As a member of the South Carolina District Council Board of Advisors, Mr. Navarro was instrumental in establishing the first District Council in South Carolina.  He is immediate past Chairman of the Upstate Region for South Carolina District Council.  As a Council Counselor, Mr. Navarro is one of twelve leaders, appointed by the National Chairman to oversee 44 ULI Product Councils, consisting of almost 2,500 real estate professionals.  He is a past Chairman of the Small Scale Development Council and past Vice Chairman of the National Program Committee.  In July of 2007, Mr. Navarro also accepted appointment to the ULI District Council Leadership team, serving as a member of the National District Council Advisors Board.

John P. Scott, CCIM, SIOR serves as Vice President of the Industrial Group, where he is responsible for the sale and lease of warehouse and plant facilities throughout upstate South Carolina, including industrial and investment properties.  Some of his significant transactions in 2007 include the lease of 209,898 SF on S. Batesville Rd to Speedway Packaging & Distribution for Prologis , as well as the lease of  a 100,000 SF industrial building to Sun Paper Co for T. Walter Brashier & Assoc.  Through John, a Canadian automotive supplier, Datran, executed a 10 year lease on a 50,000 SF  building in South Greenville. It was sold to an investment group in St Louis.  He also sold a 55,000 SF manufacturing facility located on Asheville Highway.
 
Matt Covington is Vice President of the Retail Group specializing in site acquisition, asset disposition, investment sales and development consulting.   Matt has been working in the commercial real estate industry since 1997.  In the last year, he was involved with a 35,000 SF retail big box sale to Peak Fitness on Wade Hampton Blvd.  He has also worked closely with a franchisee for Dunkin Donuts in Upstate SC and has assisted them in opening 8 new locations. LOGISTICS CERTIFICATION PROGRAM
 
Greenville, SC (November, 2007) – Grubb & Ellis Company (NYSE: GBE), one of the leading providers of integrated real estate services, today announced that Brian Young, CCIM, an associate with the Industrial Group, has completed the Company’s logistics certification program, which is designed to equip brokerage professionals with the knowledge and skills to better assist corporate and third-party logistics clients achieve their supply chain management goals.  The program is the first of its kind to be offered at a major commercial real estate services firm, and is a requirement for members of Grubb & Ellis’ Global Logistics team.

The Grubb & Ellis Global Logistics Certification Program was developed in conjunction with the Center for Logistics Education and Research at the University of North Texas.  It includes classroom-style and webinar training that covers topics ranging from supply chain management and optimization to warehouse design and technology, as well as, network analysis tools, intermodal transportation, security, ports, material handling and regulations affecting logistics activities.  Instruction concerning supply chain conditions is based on true national logistics market intelligence tracked by Grubb & Ellis.

NEW BROKER TO THE COMPANY
 
Greenville, SC (November 2007) -- Grubb & Ellis|The Furman Co., one of the leading providers of integrated real estate services, proudly announces the hire of Trey Pennington.   Trey is a member of the Industrial Group and also performs investment analysis for clients developing real estate portfolios.  With the Industrial Group, he is responsible for managing the sale and leasing of industrial properties, including warehouse and manufacturing facilities.
 
            Trey recently joined Grubb & Ellis|The Furman Co, coming from KPMG in Atlanta, GA.  While at KPMG, he performed international corporate tax advisory work and business valuation services.  Additionally, Trey has experience working in business and real estate law. 
 
            Trey attended The University of South Carolina on a football scholarship and graduated in 2000 with a Bachelor of Science in Marketing and Management, and a B.S. in Sports Administration.  In 2005, he completed a dual degree program earning a law degree and International Masters of Business Administration (I.M.B.A.) degree.  Trey received a Darla Moore Fellowship to attend the I.M.B.A. program and focused his course work in finance.  While earning his law degree, Trey also worked in real estate and business law, which is where he focused his legal course work.

DESIGNATION  IN SAN ANTONIO

            Charles Gouch was among 426 commercial real estate professionals who earned the designation October 18 by passing the Institute’s Comprehensive Examination, the final element in the designation process.
 
The CCIM designation is awarded to real estate professionals upon successful completion of a graduate-level education curriculum and presentation of a portfolio of qualifying industry experience.  The curriculum addresses: financial analysis, market analysis, user decision analysis and investment analysis – the cornerstones of commercial investment real estate.  CCIMs are recognized experts in commercial real estate brokerage, leasing, asset management, valuation, and investment analysis. 
 
            The CCIM business network encompasses 1,000 markets throughout North America, Asia, Europe and the Caribbean.  Of the estimated 125,000 commercial real estate practitioners in North America, more than 9,400 currently hold the CCIM designation.  CCIM Designees include professionals who work in brokerage, investment and development, the corporate environment, property management, appraisal and related segments of commercial real estate.  An additional 8,600 professionals are pursuing the designation as Institute candidates.
