RESPONSIBILITY ON THE TEAM
Matthew E. Covington serves as Vice President of the Retail Group, specializing
in site acquisition, asset disposition, investment sales and development consulting.
CAREER SUMMARY
A 10 year industry veteran, Matt is a native of Upstate, South Carolina and has
been in the commercial real estate industry since graduation. He was hired into
the Asset Management Division of Grubb & Ellis | The Furman Co., and after
focusing on landlord/tenant relations and the operation of income properties,
subsequently made the transition into transaction services. Through his experience
in managing commercial properties, he learned the most basic building blocks of
a successful real estate investment, specifically retaining tenants and controlling
expenses.
Matt has been involved in transactions with Metropolitan Life Insurance Company,
Charter Communications, First Citizens Bank, Wachovia Bank, Chili’s Restaurant,
Ryan’s Restaurant Group, Burger King, Zaxby’s, The Spinx Company, Poinsett Development,
Dunkin Donuts, Hamricks, Ziff Properties, Bi Lo, Kimco, Advance Auto and Bojangles.
EDUCATION
Matt received a BS in Financial Management from Clemson University, with a concentration
in Real Estate and Capital Structures. He has completed all core CCIM courses
and is actively pursuing the CCIM designation. He has also successfully completed
the Grubb & Ellis University Foundations for Success program.
PROFESSIONAL COURSES, AFFILIATIONS, INTERESTS
Matt is married, enjoys college athletics and is an avid golfer. He is active
in his local Clemson University alumni chapter, ICSC, and Grace Church.
